The end of another year, and the beginning of another book that solidifies the pro drift series of Formula Drift. What turned out to be a total different story in the end, when the 2016 championship was going to be decided between last year’s champ Fredric Aasbo and 2 time champ Chris Forsberg, with also a possible Vaughn Gittin Jr. to take it if the cards played in his favor. But if history has taught us anything, is that Irwindale always changes the game right in front of us, and gives us what we never expected. Nothing can ever replace the great memories I have with this round every year. Formula D at Road Atlanta is the best, and I know I always say that every year, but it’s the damn truth. In conjunction with Global Time Attack on the same days, it’s almost a perfect combination of Motorsports. With a interesting battle among the best in the World, Vaughn Gittin Jr. worked his way with what some may say a perfect drift to the finals. After taking out Tyler McQuarrie, Dai Yoshihara and Chris Forsberg he clenched a 1st place podium on this round making him a possible champ for the season. […]
Another year, another season. Formula D brings it down to the Streets of Long Beach again for 2016. Watered down from the heavens above, Friday started out really wet. Since 2007 I’ve been attending Formula D events, and only Road Atlanta, and a few others I felt the same rain experience during an event. But what made this one much more interesting is that the skill level of the drivers had to be on par. The Last Formula Drift at Irwindale Speedway. It’s what everyone has been saying building up to this event, but I could’ve sworn I heard 2014 and 2013 were the last years also. Regardless of the truth here we are in 2015 and as I’m shooting away at the cars sliding up and around the course, I still don’t believe it. Lol. Whatever the case may be, drifting will be here to stay, and hopefully for a long long time. The question is, where will they move the Final Round too? […]
