PWC – Pork With Cheese, actually as you know it’s the Pirelli World Challenge. This year was unexpected and with high hopes of seeing the Real Time Racing Acuras Podium, it wasn’t their weekend or anybody’s for that matter. A majority of people confuse these Race Cars with the IMSA or TUDOR Championship cars that happened to be there that same awesome weekend in Long Beach. But a totally different set of rules, classes and though the cars do resemble similarities just think of these fine Race Machines a little more classed. With 7 different classes, it was the GT, GTA and GT Cup Cars that traded paint on the Streets of Long Beach that weekend.

Pirelli the Main Sponsor and tire provider for the series has given a map of Races throughout the US and drivers from recognized Race Teams like K-Pax Racing, Cadillac Racing, and even Scuderia Corsa to name a few. If that doesn’t excite you, maybe Drivers like Andy Pilgrim, Peter Cunningham, and James Sofronas might, since their list of accolades will surprise you and make you believe that age has no boundaries in Motorsports.

That weekend we really wanted to see a race, but watching Six-Figure Race Cars bash and crash throughout the course was still pretty interesting. The domino effect started with Butch Leitzinger and his Beautiful Bentley Continental GT3 car that butted heads with the No. 5 Always Evolving GT-R GT3 of JD Davison which started a record of penalties one right after the other. The governing body has stated that the Long Beach Race was undeniably the most disappointing Round of the year as drivers and teams were making either poor or wrong decisions to create what was in all realistic terms a boring race. But if your like me, you salivate and die hard just to be up close and personal with these cars and the sounds and smells are worth more than the money in your bank account, then it was all well worth it. Lol.

Granted the teams and drivers paid fines and with support from all over they accepted the behavior to be unsportsmanlike and continue to bring World Class Racing to the masses by promoting their faults in times like this. On another note if you’ve never been to a race like this or been up close with these wonderful cars, make sure to mark your calendar next year for the one in Long Beach. Unless of course you are able to attend any of the other 11 Races in the North America. As always thank you for your support, and enjoy the photos. – Rommel Estrada #highlineautos #pwc #motolyric #tgplb
