The start of the season for us was kicked off with the much anticipated Boost Festival by Honeywell Garrett. Partnering with Global Time Attack, Just Drift and Drift 101. Held at the Streets of Willow, in Rosamond, California the pits filled in with the usual variety of all makes and models. From the Subies of Snail Performance to some never seen exotics coming out of the wood work. The Time Attack portion filled the day with some fast laps and records. With taking a First Place in their category, starting with Markos Mylonas who drove his Subaru STI to a new Street AWD Record with a 01:20.637, followed by Steven Chan of RD Engineering taking the Limited AWD Record at 01:19.445. For the Enthusiast RWD category, Hessam Toudiee and his M3 took 1st at SOW with a 01:26.912, in the Enthusiast FWD category, Efrain Flores in his Ford Fiesta ST took 1st with a 01:30.107, and topping off in the Enthusiast AWD category, Taylor Libolt took 1st with his Subaru Impreza WRX with a 01:28.190.
The Vendor row had a nice selection of Booths from the likes of CSF Radiators, DSPORT Magazine, Hoonigan, and AEM to name a few. If you didn’t miss it, you can easily find Spoon Sports in the mix, displaying their always evolving Time Attack Spoon Civic along side a nice S2000 that had a prototype rooftop.
In the upper Horse Thief Mile section Just Drift was holding Drift runs and tandem through the day. I found some time to catch some of their cars and check out the talent to come, while also awing to a few cars like Mac Cruz’s Mazda FC RX7.
All in all, I had a great time, and already looking forward to more Time Attack with Global Time Attack at their next event at Buttonwillow on April 15th. -Rommel Estrada #teamgta
