Ahead of schedule which is unusual, but for this event I wanted to make sure I got everyone taken care of, so I borrowed some faster gear that I once owned before to help me in the photography department and deliver with no issues. Thanks to Jason and the GTA Staff for making it possible for me to come across the US and join this East Coast Party. Arriving to this facility first hand was not what I expected, well of course that’s because I’ve never been to New Jersey Motorsports Park before, and I was thinking about this place being small and honestly I was picturing a totally different track. But to my surprise, it far exceeded my expectations as a photographer, visitor, and a new fan. Well 100 plus temps, and possibly hotter track temps. All I know after I exited the freeway at 6am heading down that familiar stretch of hwy aka Rosamond Blvd. I could already feel the heat. I wish it didn’t have to end. The Time Attack season comes to a close, as the Global Time Attack Super Lap Battle finishes off the year with a very memorable one. Days before this 2 day event at the ever popular Buttonwillow Raceway in the middle of nowhere. I had some personal matters that took me off path, a break-up, and more financial issues that brought me down bad, I almost didn’t have the heart to go, I ended up selling more of my camera equipment and car parts that I could buy again in the future. But I know I needed to be there, I had to move on and get taken back to what I love about this sport so much. My second time back at the World Time Attack Challenge held in Sydney Australia, was nothing short of amazing. As 2017 rolled out in the beginning of the year, the Time Attack events worldwide, including home base USA was already big. Knowing that cars were being built, changed, or just getting out there chasing records, it was surely a great year. Fast forward to my decision to leave for #wtac again was hard since many major events around the same date and the following weeks would take place. Being a fan of RX7’s since my early teen years, I fell in love with my first one at age 13. My Grandfather’s Step son had a beautiful Red 90’s RX7 Turbo II, shod in meshed wheels, and some other goodies to young to remember. But he gave me a ride in it around the neighborhood and I instantly fell in love. With a un-removable grin, I remember telling my mom to take pictures of me with the car, so I could remember that day. (I’m still trying to unearth those old photos) Years after I was fascinated with the car, and started learning about Rotary Engines and what made them different. Matter of fact during that time I started writing about them in my High School Class projects, giving my classmates information back in the 90’s about the difference and why those who own such machines love them differently.  […]
