Road Atlanta, the one event we all look forward to. The one Round in the Global Time Attack Season that everyone shoots for, or commits to going. Far from the West Side of the US in which most of the other GTA Rounds are held, like Willow Springs Raceway, and Buttonwillow which is the famed GTA/SLB Round at the end of the year. For the first time at a Global Time Attack event a fwd not only breaks the long standing record, but tops it off by clenching the fastest overall time. Every year at Road Atlanta it seems to change between who to look out for or what to expect. No matter how many times I’ve tried, my predictions never match the results. With my mind set at the usual Unlimited AWD class taking the best time of the day, I search the list for the players. Seeing Brian Faessler return with his Paul’s Automotive Engineering Ford Mustang and the only Pro/Comp entrant, he was extremely fast last year but just got edged out by last year’s winner Jeff Westhphal driving the hard to beat GST Motorsports Subaru Impreza and LYFE Motorsports Nissan GTR driven by Cole Powelson. So off the bat, I figured if it wasn’t going to be Rick MacPherson with his DBW Motorsports GTR or Tony Szirka and his UMS Tuning EVO, or  just maybe one of the Canadians with their oh so powerful Honda’s might do it. Nothing can ever replace the great memories I have with this round every year. Formula D at Road Atlanta is the best, and I know I always say that every year, but it’s the damn truth. In conjunction with Global Time Attack on the same days, it’s almost a perfect combination of Motorsports. With a interesting battle among the best in the World, Vaughn Gittin Jr. worked his way with what some may say a perfect drift to the finals. After taking out Tyler McQuarrie, Dai Yoshihara and Chris Forsberg he clenched a 1st place podium on this round making him a possible champ for the season.   […]

In 2016 the Time Attack world continues to grow. With cars being built by not just one person anymore, but by a group of like-minded people that have the same passion and goal. With shops, tuners, and Industry companies involving themselves with these cars, the recognition is becoming apparent. Not to long ago, a enthusiast from the desert of California got hooked on a track day, and just went from zero to more. Mark Jager not only had a passion for cars, but a willingness to succeed to a racing career. Having already purchased a Subaru STI, he was doing some drag racing at the now defunct LACR, but found more. Staying active with his local track, Willow Springs International Raceway.
