I wish it didn’t have to end. The Time Attack season comes to a close, as the Global Time Attack Super Lap Battle finishes off the year with a very memorable one. Days before this 2 day event at the ever popular Buttonwillow Raceway in the middle of nowhere. I had some personal matters that took me off path, a break-up, and more financial issues that brought me down bad, I almost didn’t have the heart to go, I ended up selling more of my camera equipment and car parts that I could buy again in the future. But I know I needed to be there, I had to move on and get taken back to what I love about this sport so much. The start of the season for us was kicked off with the much anticipated Boost Festival by Honeywell Garrett. Partnering with Global Time Attack, Just Drift and Drift 101. Held at the Streets of Willow, in Rosamond, California the pits filled in with the usual variety of all makes and models. I mean, that’s what it’s all about right. Having fun and doing what you love. In this case, it’s the Time Attack genre that we have learned to love and live with through the last 5 years we’ve been covering Global Time Attack. A place to race, a way to make friends, and most of all try to break some records for the sake of the sport. For the final round of GTA Pro-Am, the place was Big Willow at Willow Springs International Raceway. The name itself makes you question, what do they mean? I thought about it and figured I’ll look into it later, but surely “The Speed Ring” has a nice tone to it. For me it was a short notice and last minute decision since we were just at the same Auto Club Speedway Fontana venue the weekend before. But with Time Attack mainly in our sights for the past months, we found out that many Global Time Attack Drivers were going to race at this event, along with many others I haven’t seen yet.
