Finally a few days away and on one of So-Cal’s Most Famous Race Tracks Willow Springs International Raceway. Mazda owners have been waiting for this day, with their Miata’s, RX7’s, Protoge’s, 3’s and everything else Mazda. The question is just as I mentioned on another post was what car will take over the entire event? Will it be the ever popular Miata’s or the Legendary Flagship RX-7’s? So with honesty and experience I’m sure the Miata Racers will be in every category and then some. Having driven both and different generations I can say they are both very fun to drive with the RX7 having the sharper turning radius, and sex appeal advantage, while the Little Roadster gives you that free equality balance of driver and car connection. The RX7 is more power, more money and I’m sure much more cool, but as I get older, I see alot less and more Miatas still chasing the turns.
The reason well, how many times have you gone to a road racing event and seen a Miata? Exactly and all because of the cult it has built through the years, being the Little Engine that Could status, owners of the Miata are Die Hard Fans for life, once driven your hooked. Being used in all forms of motorsports, “The Spec Miata” is and has been for the past years a great place to start racing on a budget, with different classes it gives racers an opportunity to compete with limited modifications. Encouraging anyone who has a heart for racing, a Killer Combinaation of a low cost, entry level, production race car.
But this Saturday is MAZFEST for all things Mazda so I’m there to take it all in and see what comes down, no favorites just being part of it is what we are looking forward too.
