What turned out to be a quick visit, ended up becoming more of a catch up on some old friends I haven’t seen in awhile, to making a few new ones in our World of Time Attack.
This Gridlife event was the first West Coast trim from my knowledge, and I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy and capture more cars. Super Bowl (yes I know, I do watch other sports, lol) happened to be on the same day, and arriving early to capture some quality content while catching up with the drivers and their cars was straight to the point. It’s been a minute since I last drove a car on track, and I still find it very pleasing seeing these people unfold and perform on track. This time it was under a different banner, but nonetheless the same concept. Attacking time in a certain way, getting the best that you can do on a given day, with your current car setup and goals.
This is also the first Gridlife event I have attended or captured, and the Track Battle format is something interesting, but before I say more about it, I definitely need more field time to understand and dissect this new style of Time Attack. Hence the traditional format of Time Attack is still and will always be the foundation of the Time Attack Sport, but giving it different perspectives can enhance the Fan experience, and for many others I can understand why. Regardless, I had a great short time, and it was a good 2019 entry for more Time Attack events to follow this year. -Rommel Estrada
